George W. Hall one of the oldest and most respected residents of Montgomery county, died very peacefully Tuesday morning at 11:30 o'clock at his home on south Grant avenue. Mr. Hall suffered from an attack of the grip last March and it gave rise to heart trouble from which he, finally died. He was taken much worse early Tuesday suddenly and after lingering two or three hours passed quietly away, all of his children being at his bedside. George W. Hall was born in Warren county, Ohio, January 16, 1824, and died at his home on south Grant avenue on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 1898, in his seventy-fifth year. While yet a child he removed with his parents to Indiana, where his useful and busy life was spent. With the exception of a few years' residence at Battle Ground his home was in Montgomery county. March 3, 1846, at Yountsville, he was united in marriage to Drusilla Swearengen, whose death preceded his but a few years. Of this union five daughters survive, Misses Anna, Ida, Isabell and Martha Hall, of this city, and Mrs. Clarence Severson, of Columbus, Ohio. Save his term of service as sheriff of Montgomery county, Mr. Hall was actively engaged in farming or mercantile pursuits from early manhood until his death. In all the relations of life, domestic, business or as a public servant, he stood the test, and the verdict of all who knew him, and that embraces a very large circle, may be condensed into a statement that would be a eulogy for anyone that is, he was a good citizen and an honest man. The funeral service was held at the family residence this morning at 10 o'clock. Interment at Oak Hill cemetery. -- thanks Kim
